The same as in a veterinary clinic! I'm equipped with everything you need: ophthalmoscope, otoscope, microscope, ultrasound scanner, as well as blood and urine analyzers.
Many of the pathologies encountered by vets can be detected and treated at home.
I am able to carry out minor operations (wound care, abscesses...) in your home.
Unfortunately, I'm not equipped to take X-rays. These enable us to assess the condition of the skeleton (fracture, dislocation...) as well as certain cardiac or pulmonary disorders.
In addition, any unstable state of your pet may require hospitalization, for which continuous monitoring is essential. Some life-threatening emergencies may require a heavier technical platform, enabling resuscitation if necessary.
Finally, I don't perform "routine" surgery (sterilization, dental care, removal of masses, etc.).
In the event that your pet needs further tests, and after discussion with you of course, I will contact the veterinary facility of your choice. I'll make sure to transfer your pet's history and arrange an appointment according to your availability.
I will then be available to set up the appropriate treatment, or provide follow-up care for your companion once the diagnosis has been made.
This is one of the many advantages of a home vet: your pet will be less stressed at home! Sometimes, the home vet is even welcomed as a friend, with licks and purrs.
If this is not the case, you may want to consider medicalization before I come, so don't hesitate to talk to me about it before making an appointment. However, I sometimes have to sedate an uncooperative or painful cat (or, more rarely, dog).
